[16-Jan-2016] Caps vs. Sabres redux...

Tonight, the Caps face the familiar Buffalo Sabres for the third and final time. We have already beaten the Sabres twice this season, both times that we faced them. The first victory, coming on the 28th of December, was a 2-0 shutout, and the second came two days later on the 30th, with a 5-2 victory.

However, that does not mean that victory is assured 100% tonight. Oh, no, indeed, it does not. That is, after all, as they say, why we play the games.

Here is my list of things the Caps must do tonight to emerge victorious with a 3-0 sweep of the Sabres this season:

  1. Stay out of the #@^!&* penalty box. Don't give the Sabres a one-man advantage, let alone a two-man advantage like you gave the Canucks!
  2. Stick to the game plan. Don't let the Sabres throw you off it, because the game plan works! and whenever you step away from it, that's when you have issues.
  3. Score early. Score often. And keep the crowd out of the picture. We have seen time and time again that the crowd at the Verizon Center is the sixth man... don't let Buffalo's faithful fulfill that role for them tonight.
If the Caps do these three things, I am fairly confident in their ability to beat the Sabres once more.
