[16-Feb-2016] #OviWatch

#OviWatch

Over the weekend, Alex Ovechkin scored yet another goal, adding to his total. It wasn't enough to help Braden Holtby out of the hole the rest of the team dug for him, though, and the Caps would lose their second game of two to the Dallas Stars, making Dallas the sole team in the NHL (to date) that the Caps have faced, and not beaten at least once.

The Caps have seen the San Jose Sharks once and lost to them; the second game comes on March 12th. We have yet to face:

  • Anaheim Ducks (1st game postponed - 3/7 and 4/10)
  • Arizona Coyotes (2/22 and 4/2)
  • Los Angeles Kings (tonight and 3/9)
  • St. Louis Blues (3/26 and 4/9)

The Caps' first game against the Wild (last Tuesday 2/11) was a 3-2 win, and we face them again on 2/26.

Ovi's 35th goal of the season brings his career total to 510. He needs two more to tie Gilbert Perreault's total of 512, three more to break that line, and four to put himself ahead of Jeremy Roenick (513). Ovi has a chance to add to his goal total tonight when the Caps face the Los Angeles Kings.

Tonight will mark the first time this season that the Caps have faced Los Angeles. Their second meeting, in LA, will come on March 9th. The Kings currently sit at a record of 33-19-3, which puts them in 7th place in the League.

Ovi has scored a career 11 points in 11 games against Los Angeles - 5 goals, and 6 assists. He will look to add to that total tonight.

According to the game notes, Nicklas Backstrom needs one more goal to pass Kelly Miller at #12 on the Caps' all-time goal-scoring list.

#HoltBEASTWatch

Tonight, Braden Holtby has the chance to add another win to his win total, currently a league-leading 35. He was pulled last game against the Kings, and Holtby really hates that, so hopefully he'll play lights out hockey tonight - and so will everyone else! Come on, boys - no more five-on-three for the bad guys, OK? If the Caps can stay out of the !#$&@*(!)#@ BOX, we should be OK tonight...

Of course, now with other stress, my head's pounding and I'm in a nasty mood... the Caps better win tonight. They had just better!
