[17-Feb-2016] Tomorrow: To the Island!

Last season, the Caps defeated the New York Islanders in 7 games in the first round of the playoffs to go on to face the much-detested Rangers. Tomorrow night, the Caps go back to the Island - this time, at Barclays Center rather than in the Isles' former hell hole home, for their third match-up of four this year.

So far, the Caps have won both previous outings:

New York Islanders - 1/7 4-1 Caps; 2/4 3-2 Caps; 2/18 and 4/5 yet to play

so we'll see what they can do tomorrow night.

#OviWatch

Alex Ovechkin still has 35 goals on the season, 510 career. He's creeping up on Gilbert Perreault (512) and Jeremy Roenick (513)  on the all-time list.

35/53=.660
27*.66=17.8
35+17.8=52.8 - almost 53.

53 goals will put Ovi with a total of 528 goals career, which will still put him at #33 ahead of Brian Trottier (524 career goals).

#HoltBEASTWatch

With Philipp Grubauer getting the start last night against Los Angeles, it's a fair bet that Braden Holtby will get the start against the Islanders. His 35 wins has him in first place for wins in the NHL, and he is starting in 82% of the Caps' games... so he'll start 67 games over an 82 game season at this rate.

35/45=.777
22*.777=17.094 wins
35+17=52 wins, assuming he continues his pace... that will beat the record set by Martin Brodeur (48 wins in 2006-07)

Let's hope he can keep it up!

#KuzyaWatchin'

Evgeny Kuznetsov scored a goal last night; what we're really watching him for, though, is primary assists, of which he has 33 to date in 55 games played.

33/55=.6
27*.6=16.2
33+16=49

The target we hope Kuzya can hit is Crosby's 51 primary assists in 77 games played in 2008-09; he's a little off the pace, but not by much!
