[24-Feb-2016] Welcome, Mike Weber!

Yesterday evening, it was announced that the Caps had traded next year's third round pick to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for left-shooting defenseman Mike Weber. This move adds another big body to the defensive corps, and gives us some more flexibility leading up to the playoffs, where extra defensemen are always handy to have around. Since Weber is in California at the moment with the Sabres (who are slated to play the Anaheim Ducks tonight, while the Caps take on the Montreal Canadiens), he won't join the team immediately, but there's no word yet on when he will fly back out east to practice and play with his new teammates.

About the Caps and the Habs...

Montreal Canadiens
  • 12/3 3-2 Caps
  • 12/26 3-1 Caps
  • 2/24 final game scheduled
We have a chance to close out the series tonight with a sweep... let's see what happens. The Habs are without defenseman Nathan Beaulieu (2G-15A-17P, 41 PIMs in 56 games played) due to injury.

#BeagleWatch

It was recently announced that forward and faceoff wizard Jay Beagle, who has been sidelined by an upper body (hand) injury since Dec. 30th, has been practicing with the team in a non-contact jersey. We hope to see him suit up for real soon, and be well-rested and ready to start taking faceoffs very soon!
